ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine, which asserts that pain and illness are a sign that the body is out of balance. This is now reflected in our thinking in the West, where many people understand that our physical, emotional and mental health are all interlinked.

Stress and anxiety are very common reasons that people seek acupuncture.  Many people experience stress and anxiety symptoms in our modern society. Being irritable, constantly worrying and feeling overwhelmed are some of these common symptoms. Acupuncture can help by calming the nervous system, boosting the immune system and regulating hormonal balance.

Acupuncture can also improve mood and reduce feelings of anxiety by allowing the mind and body to relax and improving sleep. A better rested and more energetically balanced system is better able to cope with stress.

Acupuncturists treat each patient as a unique case, so I will spend time talking to you and getting to understand your health problems. My skill lies in identifying and treating both the underlying cause of pain, and the pain itself. If you imagine a tree, the cause of the problem is in the root, and the symptoms appear in the branch – my approach is to treat both the root and the branch.

You may feel a reaction straight away, or it may take a few sessions to begin to restore the balance in your body. Acupuncture also promotes a feeling of deep relaxation, so don’t be surprised if you feel a bit sleepy or chilled after your treatment!
